A Predynastic Stone Jar

Naqada c. 3500 – 2900 BC

Height: 8 cms.

Condition: Complete with very minor chips

This vase was cut from a block of limestone and shaped inside with a simple drill
with a copper tip. The lug handles, are drilled from both sides and are precisely
positioned opposite each other on the vessel’s shoulder for suspension.
