Claudia Poppea, youngest daughter of Claudius, was married to Nero in 63 AD.
After this marriage for reasons of state, Nero tried to strangle his wife several
times and after beginning a liaison with Poppaea, his close friend Otho’s wife,
he had her charged with adultery and treason and executed.
